Jai Karnataka is a 1989 Kannada-language superhero film from India, produced and directed by Dwarakish. The lead cast includes Ambareesh, Rajani, and Mukhyamantri Chandru. It is a remake of the Hindi film *Mr. India*.
For production, Dwarakish held the Tamil remake rights to the Malayalam film *Chithram*, which he traded for the Kannada rights to *Mr. India* after K. Balaji, the producer of *Mr. India*'s Tamil version, suggested the remake. Because Dwarakish was in financial difficulty, Ambareesh agreed to act without payment. The shoot was finished in three months.
Vijayanand composed the soundtrack. Songs include "Hawa Hawaii" by S. Janaki, "I Love You" by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and Vani Jairam, "Naguve Hoovanthe Aluve Mullanthe" by K. J. Yesudas, "Chinna Beda Belli Beda," and "Ananda Kodalende Naanilli Odi Bande."
At the premiere show, a friend of Dwarakish traveling from Madras in his Mercedes-Benz was in a fatal accident that killed the driver and relatives. Dwarakish saw this as a bad omen. The film was a commercial failure.
